Character Biographies.

Det. Mac Taylor: First Grade Detective Mac Taylor heads the New York City Crime Lab, conducting investigations according to Veneziano’s theory of quantum physics: everything is connected. Originally from Chicago, Mac served his country as a decorated Marine Corps officer. After serving, Mac moved to New York City and, due to his heroism demonstrated during his military career, succeeded in earning himself a spot amongst New York City’s finest.

Det. Stella Bonasera: Second Grade Detective Stella Bonasera is half Greek, half Italian, and 100% New York. She speaks her mind and is not afraid of confrontation. It was Stella’s fierce independence and unflinching character which led her to join the NYPD. Fellow officers view her as the embodiment of the Statue of Liberty: a woman standing tall with her head held high. These qualities, coupled with her intelligence, brashness and determination, earned her a coveted spot alongside Mac Taylor as a CSI.

Danny Messer: Third Grade Detective Danny Messer brings his Staten Island roots with him to the New York City Crime Lab. Growing up in a family under surveillance, Danny formulated his own set of hybrid ethics, blending the world of lawbreakers with the world of lawmakers. Mac personally selected Danny to join his team, an honour and responsibility that Danny attempts to live up to every day.

Aiden Burn: Third Grade Detective Aiden Burn is smart, sexy and streetwise. A chameleon, she adjusts to her surroundings, trying on new identities the way other women try on clothes. Born and raised in Red Hook, Brooklyn, she is well versed in the ways of New York City. What’s hot today is gone tomorrow, but Aiden stays ahead of the curve. Artistically gifted and well studied in anthropology, Aiden specialises in skeletal identification and facial reconstruction. She was fired in episode two of season two for intending to plant evidence and was later killed in episode 23 by DJ Pratt while working as a private detective.

Lindsay Munroe: Lindsay Munroe worked as a CSI for three years in Montana before she finally realised her dream of moving to a big city like New York. Her Midwestern work ethic and willingness to roll up her sleeves and tackle any job is a welcome addition to the team. Excited and always willing to learn, Lindsay offers a fresh perspective to the lab. But she rarely speaks about the dark and devastating secret that motivated her to dedicate her life to being a CSI. She replaced Aiden in season two, episode 3 - Zoo York.

Dr. Sheldon Hawkes: As Chief Medical Examiner, Dr. Sheldon Hawkes feels perfectly at ease in a room filled with death. Raised in Harlem, Dr. Hawkes was a child prodigy who graduated college at eighteen. By 24, he was a board-licensed surgeon. Young and socially inexperienced, his education could not shield him from the pressure of saving lives. Two years later, Dr. Hawkes left the operating room, retreating to the safety of the medical examiner’s office. In series two he moved out of the coroner's office and into the field as a "CSI".

Det. Don Flack: Detective Don Flack knows the streets of New York. Yonkers bred, a descendant from a long line of police officers, Detective Flack’s future was never in question. Working closely with Mac Taylor and his unit, Detective Flack bridges the gap between the old school NYPD and the new generation of CSI. Carrying with him an intense hatred of the “bad guy”, his approach to solving crimes, while sometimes borderline, is nonetheless always effective.

Adam Ross:a lab tech originally from Phoenix, Arizona. His specialty is trace evidence. He sometimes accompanies the CSIs to crime scenes to aid in reconstruction or evidence collection. He once mentioned that his father was a bully.

Dr. Sid Hammerback M.E.: is described as an "off-the-charts genius" who only recently traded in a career as a
chef to become medical examiner. He has a habit of overtalking and oversharing, which former ME Hawkes refers to as "going to that creepy place." Despite any eccentricities on his part, Sid is extremely perceptive and sincerely cares for the well-being of his coworkers (he invites Mac Taylor to his family's Thanksgiving festivities so Mac would not have to spend the holiday alone)

Memorable Quotes from CSI: NY

Det. Don Flack: Let me arrest him for swearing on his grandmother.

Det. Don Flack: Sure you did, you got steak sauce on my shoes!

Det. Mac Taylor: You're not a doctor. You're a murderer with a medical degree.

Det. Mac Taylor: Use your head, Stella, not your heart.

Dr. Sheldon Hawkes: [holding a severed finger] Apart from the fact of it not being attached to a person, there's nothing wrong with this finger.

Danny Messer: [looking at evidence from a murder case] I can't wrap my head around it, Mac. You get up, you go to work, see the people that you know, you talk, you laugh. You're living your life, then suddenly, boom. It's just over. Just like that, and you never even saw it coming.

Det. Stella Bonasera: It's Chinatown, Mac.

Det. Don Flack: I could go on, but I've already read "War and Peace".

[Aiden tries to pick the pocket of a training dummy without ringing the bell, but she can't] Danny Messer: You're such a girl.
Aiden Burn: [smacking him in the head] Shut up.

[Danny puts a wet PDA in a toaster oven to dry it out]
Det. Stella Bonasera: Mmm... something smells good.

[Danny and Stella enter a sushi restaurant in which the food is served on nude women]
Det. Stella Bonasera: Oh, that can't be sanitary.
Danny Messer: Who cares if it's sanitary. I want to see the menu.

Det. Don Flack: Deodorizers? The guy smelled like ass.

Detective Thacker: [going over a victim's rap sheet] ... and one prior for assaulting a cab driver. Danny Messer: That's still a crime in New York?

[Danny is reading 'Trendy Magazine'. Stella enters]
Det. Stella Bonasera: If you wanted beauty tips, all you had to do was ask.
Danny Messer: Do you know that waterproof mascara dries out your lashes? That's amazing.

Danny Messer: The first thing I learned on this job is anybody can do anything to anybody.

[Stella sees a Derek Jeter bobblehead on the dashboard of an SUV she and Mac are processing]
Det. Stella Bonasera: Who is that on the dashboard? Mickey Mantle?
Det. Mac Taylor: I dunno. Looks kind of like Derek Jeter.
Det. Stella Bonasera: Derek Jeter from the Yankees, right?
Det. Mac Taylor: Yeah.
Det. Stella Bonasera: Didn't they get beat by Boston or something?
Det. Mac Taylor: We were up three to zero and then we got swept. But we're trying to forget that.

Det. Stella Bonasera: Can't sleep?
Det. Mac Taylor: What's sleep?

Det. Mac Taylor: [about mosquitoes] Only the female of the species bites.
Det. Stella Bonasera: Good for her!

Danny Messer: There's one thing I hate more than running... leaping.

Det. Mac Taylor: [Danny makes a joke about marriage] You know, it could happen to you. Danny Messer: What? Marriage?
Det. Mac Taylor: No, love.
Danny Messer: Don't even joke about that Mac! That's not funny!

Det. Mac Taylor: I love the smell of a cover-up.

Det. Mac Taylor: You will answer to this crime.

Det. Stella Bonasera: No girl leaves her house without her cell phone, at least not at that age. Det. Mac Taylor: GPS the phone number.
Det. Stella Bonasera: You got it. Tiffany's! Now you're talking my language.
Det. Mac Taylor: You can tell from a map?
Det. Stella Bonasera: Are you kidding, I can tell from the moon. I love those little blue boxes.

Det. Stella Bonasera: That's it? No butler?
Det. Don Flack: No.
Det. Stella Bonasera: Too bad. I thought we could wrap this one up quick.
Det. Don Flack: What?
Det. Stella Bonasera: Mansion like this, it's always the butler. Didn't you ever play Clue? Det. Don Flack: I was a Monopoly guy.

Det. Lindsay Monroe: [after searching a pit filled with lubricant for evidence] Funny how a little lube speeds up the processing.

Det. Stella Bonasera: [after finding out that a mattress that they know a girl died on has no bloodstains on it] What do you do when you can't get to sleep?
Det. Mac Taylor: Work.
Det. Stella Bonasera: What do *normal* people do when they can't get to sleep?

Det. Mac Taylor: I'm just trying to figure out how big a mistake you made.

[Danny holds up a fingerprint sample, stares at it through the light of a torch]
Det. Stella Bonasera: You are gonna do more than just stare at it.
Danny Messer: I am waiting for it to talk to me.
Det. Stella Bonasera: Then you might have to buy it a drink first.
[to a suspect]

Det. Don Flack: You don't call, you don't write... I was starting to think you are seeing other detective.

Danny Messer: You take the bottom; I'll take the top.
Aiden Burn: I like being on top.

[After an earlier argument about retrieveing a bullet from a horse that killed a NY police officer Stella brings in a Shoulder rifle..]
Det. Stella Bonasera: [...] capable magazine capacity of 5 to 15 rounds. All we need now is a bullet to compare it to, in Stella talk that means it's time to get the bullet out of the horse Mac. End of conversation.

[A climber has just fallen from the side of the Empire State Building and part of his brain has fallen out and Dr. Hawkes has some in a jar, there's some missing...]
Det. Stella Bonasera: I knew this was gonna be a no brainer for you!
Dr. Sheldon Hawkes: She didnt just say that?!?
Det. Mac Taylor and Det. Don Flack: She did!!!
